My favorite iPhone apps

With currently 128,528 iPhone apps available in the appstore, finding the good stuff becomes more and more difficult.

“There’s a site for that” or actually two:

Here are my favorites as an inspiration:

Location-based

  • Gowalla (like Foursquare but better): check in to places around you
  • Qype Radar: find the best restaurants, bars, etc around you
  • Geocaching: play outdoors for a change :)

Productivity

  • Evernote: keep notes in the cloud; has desktop app for mac and win
  • iOutBank Pro: mobile banking
  • NetNewsWire: RSS reader
  • Dropbox: sync files across multiple desktops/mobiles and share with colleagues

Communication / Blogging

  • Facebook: you will know that one
  • XING: …
  • Skype: make skype calls when you have wifi connection
  • IM+: chat via icq, msn, skype, facebook, etc
  • Tweetie: twitter client
  • WordPress: create posts on the go
  • Tumblr: same same

Travel

  • DB Navigator: check train, bus, etc connections
  • FlightTrack: check flights, delays, etc

Music / Video

  • Last.fm: listen to your fav artists or music genre
  • Shazam: identify songs on the radio or wherever you are
  • aSleep: some nature sounds for falling asleep :)
  • Animoto: creates cool videos from your pictures

Other

  • Ego: gives you stats from your web presences based on analytics
  • teXXas: shows you when that movie starts on tv or in the cinema
  • MyPhone+: takes pictures from facebook and adds them to your iPhone contacts
  • domains2go: check if that domain is free on the go
